i'd just like to say a big thank you to the devs etc. it's getting better all the time. thanks
following the link downloads an iso which isn't the same as an .xz
i went into nightly builds and selected the lateset .xz file and the checksome (minus the space) allowed my freenas (rc1) to...
i can't upgrade from rc-1 x64 to rc-2 via the web gui.
invalid checksum even though i've removed spaces etc
access from where? windows? *nix? standalone? active directory?
first thing is to set up 2 groups or 2 users.
then create your datasets with the appropriate permissions.
when you touch a file via ssh etc, you are using *nix to create it and you create a 644 or -rw-r--r--
when you create via explorer, you are using samba and samba file creation can be set differently...
i'd like to come in here.
You CAN set permissions via cifs. What you have to remember is that there are underlying file permissions.
Limits set by kernel level access control such as file...
iperf is there but trace of no iozone. that aside, freenas is getting better with every build and i'm sure 8.1 will be good.
from a fresh install (last beta didn't go in well), i had 8.01-RC1 up and...
nothing really as i thought there would have been a "restore snapshot button" of some sort.
a question about vlans for those that are using them in freenas 8:
in pfsense (freebsd as well), you simply select an interface and configure the vlans and away you go.
for some reason this isn't...
yep.... i'm getting the same. even did a new install with 7457_x64 and it did the same.
think i'll wait a few days before trying another.
i've got periodic snapshots running but i can't find out how to roll back via the gui if needed.
running r7260 (08-21-11)
cheers. it's just there was a lot of upgrade images starting to show whereas before it was mostly iso's.
sunday morning and the lastest snapshots have gone up. is 8r7260 beta5?
cheers j. if there's one thing people do like, it's being kept in the loop. looking forward to the release and thanks for all the hard work you and the devs are putting in to make freenas one of the...
i'm fairly happy with version 8 at the moment as it's doing everything i require from the core ie nfs, cifs & rsync. the bells and whistles can come later.
the one function that is lacking for me is...
try to do it without setting recursive first. then try recursive after that.
did a fresh install. all looks well to me at the moment.
for anybody using vlans......
1. initial bootup and create vlan (this will be the vlan that sets the default route that freenas uses for...
looking forward to it and as already said, thanks for your time and effort here.
would it be possibe for you to expand a little on what you were actually aiming for with the permissions and why it...
into the shell via console or ssh:
To find out how your interface is set:
use ifconfig <interface-name> | grep media
Set 100Mbps full-duplex, enter:
ifconfig <interface-name> <IP_address>...
i'm just thinking whether or no something may be jammed in some arp tables etc with the .30 address as it should work.
try another eg .6 to see what happens.
into the shell and:
ifconfig re0 mtu 1500 #where "re0" is your interface
well, it's certainly strange. it should work. it clearly shows you have the ip there.
i'm wondering whether you have anything else of you network eg intrusion detection or anything else blocking it?...
what does an ifconfig show when it is broke?
on a side note, i had a devil of a job configuring freenas 8 a week or 2 ago. destroying interfaces, vlans etc had no effect even though it said it did...
thats one mother of a subnet you have there!
in theory it should work and certainly if you can ping it, you should be able to see it.
options:
browser issue? is it refreshing and not seeing a...
hurrah.....
i thought i was going mad.
in pfsense, (nanobsd) you just set the vlans and assign them to a parent interface.
in freebsd, not so (as you've discovered)
having said that, my re0...
