How To: Install FreeNAS 8 to a USB Key

This is an easy platform independent method of installing FreeNAS 8 to a USB key, WITHOUT requiring an optical drive.

Have you looked at the documentation or Youtube videos? This is the exact method that is presented there.

ZFS, vdevs, zpools, configuring & adding disks for DUMMIES

I haven't watched the YouTube Videos, but this is nothing like what is in the documentation. The methods in the documentation require either an optical drive, or use different tools to write the image depending on this O/S.

This method is completely different from either. They all work, and this is just one more way of doing it.
