    failed to create raidz5

    Hi all,

    i tried to create a raidz5 in my vmware with 3x2GB harddisks.
    i tried it wit 8.0 release and 8.0.1 Beta 2.
    Got this error after creating raidz5
    Error getting used space (Error) Error getting available space Error getting total space

    what's the misstake?

    By default freenas reserves 2GB for swap on each data disk. So as your disks are only 2GB, they are completely reserved for swap.
    You have 2 solutions you can choose from:
    1. Make your disks bigger
    2. You can lower the swap size somewhere in the UI. The minimum is 1GB

    Hehe,

    I knew the solution cause I ran into the exact same problem, spending a couple of my evenings trying to figure out what the problem was. I'm playing with FreeNAS inside a VirtualBox install while I'm waiting for my components to arrive. This will be my first NAS

    I highly doubt you are trying to create a raidz5 array. If you are only using 3 hard drives then you are wanting RAID-Z which is similar to a RAID5 but definitely not called a raidz5.
