    Post RAID 5 setup

    Hello everybody,

New guy question or more or less a clarification.

Regarding RAID more specifically RAID 5 (example: 3 or more hard drive configuration). The way I understand is that if you start off with a RAID 5 system with 3 or more hard drives that you can not add any additional hard drives to the RAID system. Is this correct?

Or, can I continue to increase the storage space by adding additional hard drives to the existing RAID 5 system?

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Hi tcgl,

Assuming you are asking about FreeNAS 8, read this: http://www.freenas.org/images/resour...0.3_guide.html

You want to look at Sections 6.3 & 6.3.4.
