other scripts on the freeNAS

I found this new software and wanted to know, if non-freeNAS scripts are able to run as a back ground process. I use all my pc's cpu's as render slaves. If I install the FreeNAS can I run a batch script in the back ground of FreeNAS?

That would probably depend on:
1) how much you're willing to hack around in FreeBSD/FreeNAS
2) whether your render software is capable of running on FreeBSD
